The Lowther Arms Community Project Ltd (LACP) is a Co-operative and Community Benefit Society created to buy and save the Lowther Arms village pub.

The Project has over 300 shareholders from the local community, and beyond, who came together to raise the money to buy the pub through the sale of Community Shares.

LACP also received support from a number of organisations including the Plunkett Foundation, Key Fund, Co-operatives UK, CAMRA, Allerdale Borough Council, Cumbria Community Foundation, Robin Rigg, and the Chamber of Commerce.

LACP are the landlords of the pub and lease to tenants. LACP has set the overall direction of the business as a welcoming, traditional, country pub serving great beer and home-cooked food, and the tenants are free to run the pub as they wish within this broad framework.

LACP retains control of the small caravan and camp site associated with the pub and income generated from this site, plus the tenant’s rent, will enable the Project to continue to invest to maintain the fabric of the building and improve the facilities.  It will also enable the Project to fulfil its obligations as landlord and eventually generate a modest return for investors.  Shares can still be bought – simply follow the ‘Buy Shares’ link.

LACP would like to thank all its shareholders and supporters who have made the re-opening of the Lowther Arms possible!

Customer Information-
If coming to the pub today, please be careful on the road in the village and the junction outside the pub. There is a lot of sheet ice making it difficult to drive in.
We have salted as much as we can but it is still quite slippery out there.
Reminder that there is strictly no parking directly to the front of the pub also.
Take care out there today and see you all later.

Looks lovely, but it’s a sad state of affairs when fish & chips is now £20. The Hospitality Industry is struggling, and costs reflect what they are having to charge to stay afloat.

Don't mind paying when the food looks this good and is good looking forward to coming back .what times are you open for food please

New menu out now!
Our new menu went down a storm today and we couldn’t be happier.
We will be making some changes tomorrow following some justified feedback on our starters but overall some delicious dishes and lots of new things to try!
The pan fried duck breast though… 😋

🤩 I’m in need of a trip through! This looks delicious xx

I know it’s fiddly, but peeling and cutting the top off the chantenay carrots makes them taste a lot better. Sweet and no bitterness.

Lovely food , great staff ❤️❤️

Looks amazing 👌

So can't wait to visit next month 😍
