A big thank you to everyone for supporting us, making our venture so successful, and keeping our village pub alive

The Lowther Arms is a traditional country pub in the heart of Mawbray village, close to the sea on the Solway Plain in north-west Cumbria. Set in peaceful countryside and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site Buffer Zone, we are surrounded by stunning views of the Lakes and Scotland.
Although tenanted, The Lowther Arms is a cooperative and community-owned pub, saved from permanent closure and conversion to a house by the local community and over 300 shareholders.
After being closed for two and a half years, the pub re-opened in June 2021, and is now more than a pub – offering a comfortable place to have a drink, enjoy a meal, meet with friends, or simply a quiet corner to read in. Whether you are a local, a visitor, walker, or cyclist, come and relax in our lovely pub with its beer garden and stunning views of the Lake District.
Our 4-pitch caravan site is open and booking is highly advisable. We have 3 pitches for tourers and motorhomes, a Pod, plus camping.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the bar, conservatory and beer garden.
We look forward to seeing you!

***Change of plan***
The bank holiday gods are not shining on us today sadly. We have a fault with our kitchen fans meaning we are unable to open for food today. We have someone coming out to them but we don’t know when!
We will still be open for drinks so you can come and enjoy this lovely weather in the garden (perhaps with a packet of crisps) 🧐
Open 12-5 as planned, just minus the food! ... See MoreSee Less

I saw what i thought was a dog coming down the rd an it was this beauty. Laughed my head of. The owners must have thought i was nuts
If the owner said its a Jack Russell then he should have no more alcohol served
Omg she is adorable 🥰
You’ll need bigger poo bags! 😂

Hi, won't let me private message on here. Please can you tell me if your dog friendly for food inside and what time you serve on Saturday and Sunday. Thanks
That’s good as the other menu was t that great to be fair. I’ve always been a fan of this place. The service is brilliant and the owners are very welcoming but the last meal from the other menu wasn’t great. Are you doing Sunday lunches yet?
Super excited to be heading your way on Sunday, looks amazing x
Are you still closed Monday and Tuesdays?
